About the album

Düsseldorf guitarist Philipp van Endert and Cologne singer Anne Hartkamp have been playing together as a duo for 20 years. From the very beginning, their music has focused on liveliness and communication, playful virtuosity and improvisational interplay beyond the traditional distribution of roles. And these qualities have continued to develop and deepen: hardly any guitar sound is as embracing and organic as Philipp van Endert’s, and Anne Hartkamp’s voice ranges effortlessly from silver to velvet. Both share the dedication and unconditional commitment with which they throw themselves into the music, with which they risk tenderness and intensity, give each other space in the free flight of improvisation and intuitively find each other again.

‘Embrace‘, the duo’s third album, fully lives up to its name: lyrical and warm-hearted, the compositions – five originals and four others – and lyrics, the arrangements and improvisations bring out the finely tuned colours of ‘Magnolia’, intimate and full of joy in playing, highly musical, touching and inspired.
