About

A project aspiring after music with a cautious beautiful sound, easily floating and interactive. ”Emotions“ play an aesthetic programme of rarely heard jazz standards, music written by friends and colleagues as well as their own compositions.

Matthias Nadolny, born in 1957. With his versatile, ever identifiable, unique sound and his melodic fantasia, tenorsaxophonist Matthias Nadolny has become an important part of German jazz scene. At the end of the nineteenseventies he came out to a broader audience as a member of Toto Blankes Electric Circus. During concerts and tours all over Europe he joined famous musicians such as John Abercrombie, Arild Andersen, Peter O’Mara, Bruno Castellucci, Leroy Lowe, Lee Konitz, John Surman, Benny Bailey, Cees Slinger, Paul van Kemenade, Norma Winstone, Maria Pia de Vito, Jo Thönes, Bart van Lier, John Marshall and many others. For a long time M. N. was tenorist in the band of vibraphonist Stefan Bauer. With trumpeter Uli Beckerhoff he cooperates very fruitfully in different contextes since many years. As duo with bassist Gunnar Plümer, he recorded in 1993/94 the much lauded CD “You’ll never walk alone”. English pianist John Taylor was a duo partner as well. Recently M. N. played amongst others with the quintett of tenorist Paul Heller, the International Skoda Workshop Band, with the two tenor saxophonists Claudius Valk and Gerd Dudek during a festival project as well as with Italian pianist Glauco Venier. Beside his concert activities M. N. works as a pedagogue and gives lessons at Folkwang Hochschule Essen.

Konstantin Wienstroer/Bass is a Folkwang prize winner in the category jazz together with trio “Unfinished Business“. Furthermore, he is a sought-after session bassist, for live acts and studio recordings likewise. In cooperations with musicians as Ziroli Winterstein, Jürgen Dahmen, Frank Kirchner, Daniel Basanta, Hazy Osterwald, Helmut Zerlett and many others he keeps giving proof of his musical versatility in different styles of music. After his concert exam at Folkwang Hochschule Essen he played on many tours inter alia at USA, Japan and Switzerland. He played the bass for different international CD-productions, e.g. with the band Mainpoint, the Daniel Küffer Quartett, Klaus Dingers la neu!, the Turkish-German band Tan and many others.

Blind pianist Jörg Siebenhaar began his musical career in early childhood playing accordeon and church organ. In 1996 he passed his artistic graduation at Folkwang Hochschule Essen. His life is characterized by jazz and the piano. Jörg Siebenhaar took part in many theatre and TV-productions as composer and musician. The jazzpianist is member of Trio Spirituoso (together with Markus Wienstroer) and „Un Tango Más“, a well known tango sextett at the Ruhr area. Furthermore, he appeared on TV with Desirée Nick and Jürgen von der Lippe. Even Bobby Hebb, composer of worldwide hit „Sunny“, engaged Jörg Siebenhaar for his tours through Europe in 2002 + 2006.

Peter Baumgärtner studied at Swiss Jazz School with Billy Brooks. He is a very skilled and experienced musician and worked amongst others with Silvia Droste, Jack van Poll, John Goldsby (WDR Big Band), Lydia van Dam, Martin Wind, John Marshall (WDR Big Band), Peter Weniger, Sabine Kühlich, Inga Lühning, the Sultans of Swing, Paul G.
