About

A series of events and coincidences have helped to create this fine ensemble. The original idea arose from the cooperation of Ulrich Cordes and Johannes Lemke during services in the St. Mary‘s ,Romance‘ church in Lyskirchen (Cologne/ Germany). The magical atmosphere of this special place has helped to inspire both musicians to improvise over Gregorian motives.

After meeting jazz piano player Laia Genc, their music became more refined and their initial improvisations formed into compositions.

Whilst looking for suitable lyrics, Ulrich & Johannes were influenced repeatedly by the Book of Psalms. Meanwhile, Laia & Johannes started to compose the music, which was honed further by Ulrich‘s excellent vocal rendering.
